| Electrotherapy
We provide a variety of painless electrotherapy treatments to assist in your rehabilitation. Below you’ll find a brief explanation of each treatment modality and how they will benefit your experience at WPGP.
Ultrasound – Ultrasound waves are used to penetrate the skin via direct contact to the affected area and work to increase blood flow, relax muscle spasms, repair damaged tissue, and dramatically speed up the healing process. It creates permanent, physical changes and repairs both hard and soft tissues problems.
Interferential Current (IFC) - IFC is used to aid in the relief of pain and the promotion of soft-tissue healing using tiny electrical impulses that penetrate to the tissue level. This low-frequency stimulation promotes pain relief and reduces inflammation at the site of injury.
Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) – A modality commonly used for muscle atrophy (muscle wasting) following injury, EMS uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle or a group of muscles to contract effectively strengthening the muscle.
Biofeedback – Biofeedback allows patients to attend to the particular muscle or muscle groups that require strengthening and refinement for successful rehabilitation. Electrodes that are applied directly to the skin send information to a handheld console that visualises muscle activity. This awareness helps to create more appropriately coordinated movement.
Infrared Laser - Laser Therapy is the application of infra-red light applied to the site of injury to improve soft tissue healing, reduce inflammation and give relief for both acute and chronic pain
